Category Archives: Nellie Snellen dies

Hi Everyone !!!!!!!

I’m on the countdown to the Easter break, after a busy couple of weeks. Last week I visited the Hobbycrafts show at the NEC on Thursday & Friday and brought some wonderful goodies, Spellbinder dies, including the new lattice sets by Sue Wilson, lili of the Valley stamps, PATP punches by Martha Stewart, a flitter glu starter set, some masks and sparkle medium by Imagination crafts and much more.

Today I’ve got a card that I made for a teacher that is retiring from our youngest son’s primary school, she’s been there for 34 years and taught all 3 of our children Adam had her for 3 years running.

I cased this card from the lovely & inspiring  Sue Wilson . I’ve used a different embossability folder  in the background and changed the romantic rectangles and lace for a square scalloped die and the border from the persian set. The Roses was made from a punch and the leaves are Nellie Snellen punches.

The sentiment was computer generated, die cut and inked with distress ink while still in the die.

Well, I’m off to enjoy this gorgeous weather we’re having at the moment, don’t suppose it’s going to last through the Easter break LOL

With Mother’s Day fast approaching  and a few hours to spare yesterday I thought I’d catch up on a few orders and make my Mum’s card.

Card Recipe

  • 8″ x 8″ card blank.
  • Dovecraft “Tea House” designer papers.
  • Tilda with rose stamp by Magnolia.
  • Coloured with promarkers.
  • Joy crafts ribbon die.
  • Nellie Snellen multi frames rectangle die.
  • Marianne Design frame die.
  • Magnolia Dragonfly die.
  • Sizzix rolled rose die.
  • Stampin Up oval punches and scalloped border punch.
  • Mother’s Day sentiment by Craftwork cards.
  • Ribbon and Pearls from the stash.

Here’s a closer look at Tilda…..

To colour her in I used the promarker blender pen .I chose a bright magenta pink pen and took the colour from the chisel tip end of the pen onto the blender pen, then starting where the colour would be deeper  and coloured in Tilda’s dress, shoes, socks and the rose, adding more colour to the blender as I went. This gives a softer shade and looks more like the image has been watercoloured. I used the same technique for the leaves and hair too.( I hope this makes sense) :D

This rose was created using  a sizzix die, when you’ve cut the shape you roll it from the outside to the middle, let it relax and then glue the bottom. I’ve added a pearl bead to the centre using silicone to finish it off.

I saw a video tutorial for this double bow on the very talented becca’s blog here and thought I’d give it a go, but I think a bit more practise is needed, although it wasn’t bad for a first attempt. Big THANKYOU Becca for the inspiration :D

This dragonfly was cut with a Magnolia die and sprayed with irridescent glitter.

Hi Everyone!!!!

Here’s another double twisted easel card a bit less fussy and fluffy as the last one.

I’ve used a shoe and handbag stamp by Impression Obsession I’ve had for a long time, just stamped in black ink and cut out.The black die cut circles are cut using a Marianne die and  the pink heart in the middle is a Nellie Snellen multi frame die.The sentiment is by Craftwork Cards. The patterned paper is Papermania Capsule  Collection ” Red Hot”

Here’s some close ups…..

….and a side view….

This fits in with two challenges:

Creative Inspirations ~ Easel Cards.

Polka doodles ~ Black, white + 1 other.

Over at Penny Black Saturday, this week, there’s a sketch by Carole, I really like this sketch, very simple but effective.

I stamped this cute little rabbit in a cabbage, when I went to my friend Louise’s house and it’s been sat on the side for weeks, so I thought it was about time I used him, he’s called Butterfly Bunny 1439E. and he’s just the right size for the sketch. I’ve coloured him with promarkers, cut him out with a circle nestie and then cut a frame with a Nellie Snellen die. The patterned paper is Basic Grey 6×6 “Kioshi” and I’ve used a Martha Stewart around the page punch called double loops round the panel. Then a die cut butterfly, some raffia and a few pearls have been added to finish it off.

Here’s a closer look at that cute little bunny….

I thought I’d share this card that I made for a friend of a friend. It’s a congratulations you’re expecting card. Apparently this pregnancy is a bit of a miracle.

I thought it was about time I dusted down my cricut expressions machine. So I’ve cut the pregnant lady out using the New Arrival cartridge and pieced her together. The Frame has been cut with a Nellie Snellen oval die on the Big Shot. The DP are Graphic 45 and the sentiment was computer generated, this makes it easy to personalise the card. The side borders have been punched with a Fiskars apron lace punch.

Here’s a close up..

I hope Claire and Paul liked it.

Thanks for looking,
