My crafty place

Monthly Archives: March 2011

With Mother’s Day fast approaching  and a few hours to spare yesterday I thought I’d catch up on a few orders and make my Mum’s card.

Card Recipe

  • 8″ x 8″ card blank.
  • Dovecraft “Tea House” designer papers.
  • Tilda with rose stamp by Magnolia.
  • Coloured with promarkers.
  • Joy crafts ribbon die.
  • Nellie Snellen multi frames rectangle die.
  • Marianne Design frame die.
  • Magnolia Dragonfly die.
  • Sizzix rolled rose die.
  • Stampin Up oval punches and scalloped border punch.
  • Mother’s Day sentiment by Craftwork cards.
  • Ribbon and Pearls from the stash.

Here’s a closer look at Tilda…..

To colour her in I used the promarker blender pen .I chose a bright magenta pink pen and took the colour from the chisel tip end of the pen onto the blender pen, then starting where the colour would be deeper  and coloured in Tilda’s dress, shoes, socks and the rose, adding more colour to the blender as I went. This gives a softer shade and looks more like the image has been watercoloured. I used the same technique for the leaves and hair too.( I hope this makes sense) 😀

This rose was created using  a sizzix die, when you’ve cut the shape you roll it from the outside to the middle, let it relax and then glue the bottom. I’ve added a pearl bead to the centre using silicone to finish it off.

I saw a video tutorial for this double bow on the very talented becca’s blog here and thought I’d give it a go, but I think a bit more practise is needed, although it wasn’t bad for a first attempt. Big THANKYOU Becca for the inspiration 😀

This dragonfly was cut with a Magnolia die and sprayed with irridescent glitter.

Hi Everyone!!!!

Here’s another double twisted easel card a bit less fussy and fluffy as the last one.

I’ve used a shoe and handbag stamp by Impression Obsession I’ve had for a long time, just stamped in black ink and cut out.The black die cut circles are cut using a Marianne die and  the pink heart in the middle is a Nellie Snellen multi frame die.The sentiment is by Craftwork Cards. The patterned paper is Papermania Capsule  Collection ” Red Hot”

Here’s some close ups…..

….and a side view….

This fits in with two challenges:

Creative Inspirations ~ Easel Cards.

Polka doodles ~ Black, white + 1 other.

Thanks for stopping by 😀

Monday again!!!!!! Where do the weeks go?

I made an easel card using my grand nesties, it was for Debbie’s birthday.

The image is a digi download from Funkykits, coloured with copics. The patterned papers are Stampin Up. I’ve also used nesties for the ovals and fancy tag, where the sentiments is. The edges have all been distressed with light brown ink and the doily, bow, pearls and stickles are from the stash.

It fits in with four challenges this week…..ABC is “P for Pearls” and A Spoonful of Sugar is “Anything with a vintage/shabby theme and Copic Creations is “Complementary colours” and Charisma Cardz is “Easel Cards”

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Happy Sunday!!!!
I was looking at the cartridges on my gypsy this morning and on the smiley’s cartridge I found this aperture card and thought it would make a good porthole shaped card, there was a round one as well but I liked this shape.

I’ve cut the card and the leaves using my cricut and inked the edges. The fish was made using the Stampin Up ornament and 5 petal flower punches and the delightful decorations stamp set. then I’ve added some card candy and twine around the outside and a few glass beads to represent bubbles.

Over at Cards for Men the challenge this week is anything to do with “water”, ships, fish ect…. so I think this fits the bill.

Have a lovely day!!!!!!!!!

Happy Saturday Everyone!!!!!

Well the weekend’s here again Whoo Whoo!! Have a good one whatever you might be doing.

I’ve made a double twisted easel card, I really like doing these cards.

The card base was cut to 8″ square, foldeed in half and then cut up the middle to the crease line, which gives you two panels on one half of the card measuring 4″ square. Then I’ve scored those two panels diagonally from the centre,on the crease line to the outer edge and folded them to form a triangle on each side (hope that makes sense) Then Ive cut two 4″ squares for each side, but only stuck them to the bottom triangle, so they can stand up.

I’ve used these cute little fairies and sentiment from Lili of the Valley, coloured with promarkers and I’m ashamed to say this is the first time they’ve been inked since I’ve had them.I know what your thinking!!!!

The roses were made with a sizzix die and a pearl added to the middle. I’ve also used a couple of doilies, some feathers, a ribbon slider, some card candy and some stickles to finish off.
